About Lesley Anne Derks

Lesley Anne Derks is a graduate of Glasgow School of Art. She has exhibited worldwide and has established a reputation for her depiction of cities at night. From an early age lights at night have always fascinated her. All her work is based on places she has visited over the years. Her aim is to produce work that allows the viewer to experience their own version of the subtleties of movement, light and sound that she experiences when producing the work. Lesley Anne’s paintings are much more than a depictive representation. They are textured using many layers of different media. As the work progresses, she omits areas or replaces them. She may peel back to an earlier state, thereby revealing what went on before. The painting begins to take on a different direction from the original source material.
